Have a new Coug in the family or a seasoned Coug heading back to Pullman for the year? Encourage them to attend Week of Welcome to help them transition back into life at a university and life in Pullman.
Week of Welcome is a week-long event on the WSU Pullman campus that combines academic and social programming to help new and returning students kick off the new academic year. The programming will focus on helping students meet basic needs like housing and financial aid, help them make connections and build friends, and teach them more about academic preparedness, social identity, campus engagement, and more.
We know sometimes in the rush to get to campus and settle in, things can slip off a students to do list. Make sure you encourage them to attend so they can get off on the right foot.
Tips to Support Your Coug
- Encourage your student to get to know their neighbors and their Resident Assistant. These people will be a major part of your student’s time at WSU, so start off on the right foot.
- Encourage your student to attend Week of Welcome events so they can get to know campus, make connections with other students, and learn more about the resources available to them. Check out the schedule and mark the events you think would be the most useful to your student.
- Encourage your student to attend the smaller Week of Welcome events. The smaller the event, the more one-on-one time your student will get with their peers.
