Week of Welcome Washington State University

Mandatory Programming

All incoming and transfer undergraduate students who participated in Spring and Summer 2021 Alive Orientation were asked to complete their Canvas online pre-arrival course. There were several technical difficulties that resulted in delays for students to complete the Canvas modules. New Student Programs will count all students who completed the Alive Orientation online as completed for their orientation mandatory requirements. As long as you completed Alive Orientation, you no longer have to complete the Canvas modules.  If you need assistance, please contact New Student Programs at Please include your WSU ID number in your email.

All incoming and transfer undergraduate students are required to complete the following mandatory programs during their first semester. Fill out the registration survey to schedule a time to attend.
  • Count on Cougs: A bystander intervention program specifically developed for our WSU community (students will register in August to attend during the Week of Welcome or Fall semester).
  • eCHECKUP TO GO (eCHUG): This online confidential survey allows students to receive personalized feedback about the impacts of alcohol and other drug use. First-year and transfer students under the age of 21 as of August 1 are required to complete eCHECKUP TO GO (eCHUG) during their first semester at WSU. This self-paced, interactive survey can be completed on your own time but needs to be accomplished before the end of the semester.
